Speaking Of Illustration

Monday, May 12th, 2008

John Ritter asked me to come down and kick off a lecture series called Speaking Of Illustration which was sponsored by the Pittsburgh Society of Illustrators.  I got to share my story and meet some amazing people.  I made some new friends and caught up with some old ones.  The experience was life changing and I was proud to be apart of it. The event was held at Artist Image Resource (AIR) which is this 10,000 square foot facility that has a Lithography shop, screen printing shop, a digital imaging lab , exhibition and archive spaces. Such a perfect backdrop to help everyone feel laid back and approachable.  Afterwards we played some music and talked art late into the night.  Here’s some pics below.     Here I am stumbling through my intro     talkin.jpg     Here Ilene Winn-Lederer and I were sharing our process with one another     ilene_and_i.jpg

Rollingstone

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

A long time goal of mine was to work with Rollingstone.  I finally had the chance but unfortunately after the art was finished the story was pulled.  I still had a blast and look forward to working with them again.      It was a music review for Foxboro Hottubs which are better known as Green Day.  They had a real 60’s vibe to their music and as such they wanted to push that with the concept.  I looked at a bunch of old concert posters and ended up here.           rollingstone.jpg       rollingstone_sketch2.jpg        rollingstone_ink.jpg
