The story was about the Chinese communist party, how there have been 2 distinct factions forming inside the party and for the first time we are seeing the emergence of these 2 coalitions that are equally powerful in the one political system.

Here’s something I did for Newsweek International about the chinese consumer. The cover was later killed due to the news of Michael Jackson.

Here’s the final.  I attached some shots of my process below.

Then from their description I quickly sketched this new direction out.

The last sketch still didn’t feel right to me so I refined the composition.

They loved it but wanted to add some text to one of the bags so I revised to fit the copy.  Once they saw this we were set to go to final
